Built in 1836 by John Hayden—a local jeweler, ship captain, statesman, and abolitionist—the Hayden House on Washington Street in Bath is a simple yet elegant example of the fine 19th-century architecture for which the town is known. Tucked behind the main house with its own private entrance, the Guest House reflects the refined character of the property while offering modern comforts and amenities.

The Guest House features two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a cozy living area, and a full bathroom with a newly renovated walk-in shower. Guests also have access to the backyard, which includes a fire pit, grill, and small lawn—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

This is a small, guest house located at the back of the primary home. The primary home will not be occupied at the time of rental.
Both bedrooms are located off the main living area - there is a door that closes between bedroom area and living room for added privacy

Neighborhood Note: This is a quiet neighborhood but there are neighboring houses very nearby. You will see and hear neighbors in their yards, and may hear dogs barking, children playing, etc. There is a church directly across the street with a bell that rings on the hour, day and night. White noise machines are provided in each bedroom.

Other things to Note: This home does not have air conditioning; there are fans in each bedroom. A car is needed to get to this location. No dogs are allowed at this property.

Just a five-minute walk from downtown Bath, the Guest House provides easy access to everything this charming coastal town has to offer. Enjoy a pistachio cornetto at Solo Pane e Pasticceria, browse the Bath Farmers’ Market, and take in views of the Kennebec River from an Adirondack chair in the local park. Stroll along historic Front Street, home to an array of locally owned shops and three independent bookstores or admire the grand homes built during Bath’s shipbuilding heyday for wealthy sea captains and shipbuilders.

Brunswick, home to Bowdoin College, is just a 15-minute drive away via Route 1. If you're in the mood for the beach, both Popham Beach State Park and Reid State Park are approximately 15 miles away. Craving fresh seafood? Enjoy a famous lobster roll at Red’s Eats in nearby Wiscasset or head to Five Islands Lobster Co. in Georgetown. On a rainy day, the iconic L.L.Bean flagship store in Freeport is less than 30 minutes away

Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 30 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
